People who suffer from anxiety, depression, or pretty much any other mental health disorder usually feel more irritable than people who don’t suffer from these issues. If you feel like anything could make you irritated, it is most likely a sign that you are under a lot of stress. It also means that you are having a hard time coping with all that stress – at least coping with it in healthy ways.
Irritability can be very uncomfortable, because it can cause you a lot of trouble both at work and in your personal life. But there is no reason to worry, because there are several different ways you can get out of this nasty emotional state.
Also, if your current emotional state significantly impacts both your professional and personal life, you should seek help from a mental health professional, because you are most likely suffering from something much bigger than irritability. That being said, here are top three things that you can do to get rid of irritability!
We all know that regular exercise is a great way to keep ourselves physically healthy and in good shape, right? It certainly is, but there is so much more to exercise than that! For example, regular exercise is a great way to cope with your emotions.
By jogging, playing sports, or engaging in any other physical activity that is similar to these two, you help yourself not just from a physical standpoint, but from an emotional one as well. With that said, you should go for at least 20 minutes of physical activity each day. This is something that can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, and that is never a bad thing.
Practice Relaxation Techniques
If you notice that your mood easily goes from calm to angry, you should take a few-minutes-long time-out and practice some relaxation techniques – such as guided meditation. A guided meditation is a relaxation technique that involves driving positive thoughts into your mind. Simply close your eyes and imagine that you are at a place that makes you feel happy. Also, you should try to activate all of your senses during the meditation process.
Do Something That You Love To Do
Is there anything that you really love to do – something that you can see yourself doing each and every single day? Make sure to spend at least 15 minutes each day doing what you love to do. Is it playing video games or taking selfies in your backyard? If you give yourself enough time to be happy during the day, you are less likely to be irritated.
