Symptoms of Postpartum Depression

Not all women who gave birth are mentally healthy. Some experienced symptoms of postpartum depression. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of nine women suffers postpartum depression. What’s worst is that most of them are not aware of it. Below are the symptoms of postpartum depression.

  • Loss of interest in baby – Moms, especially new moms should feel excited to bond with their baby. It is just normal to have some “me time” once in a while. Lack of care for the child, lack of self-care, and the intent of harming the child are all signs of postpartum depression.

Postpartum depression is often mistaken for baby blues as they share similar symptoms, but postpartum depression symptoms are more intense and last longer; to the extent that they affect your ability to care for your baby and yourself. Postpartum depression symptoms if not dealt and managed properly could lead to postpartum psychosis; a condition that causes severe symptoms, which include the following:
